Noise Dispersion models

Nicolaides & Associates provides consulting services that relate to air quality through in-house 3D dispersion models. A noise dispersion study is usually requested by the competent authorities for a broad range of projects, either for licensing new developments or assessing existing ones. Such developments are large construction sites, industrial developments, highways, airports, main avenues, or facilities that produce high noise levels (eg. cafes, restaurants, etc.).
The noise dispersion study is mainly composed of:
• On-site noise measurements to establish the existing levels and use the results as a verification method for the 3D noise model.
• Carry out 3D noise simulations through softwares approved by the Authorities and recognised by the International, Cypriot and European Departments. The main input of the model is environmental and morphological characteristics of the area such as topography and elevation contours, local wind data, etc..
• Provide detailed presentation of the results of the simulations. The results are usually provided in the form of diagrams and geo-referenced contours positioned that show the intensity of the noise.
• Provide a professional and technical discussion on the results and compare them with the limitations as specified by the relevant policies and regulations.
